Description
This lovely antique pin would make a wonderful addition to a collection of fraternal memorabilia. Dating back to circa 1900, this pin is fashioned from 14k yellow gold and features genuine garnets and genuine seed pearls. The pin is a Maltese Cross bordered in yellow gold and adorned in seed pearls and garnets. The center of the cross displays a raised circle of black enamel bearing a crescent moon, three stars, and a Tau symbol, all of which are done in gold. A ring comprised of pearls and garnets surrounds the raised center. Four trapezoid shapes around the center bear Alpha and Omega symbols written in gold on a black-enameled background. Some minor chipping on the surface of the enamel is typical of vintage pieces and does not detract from the beauty of this pin. The pin fastens from the back with a bar and hinge clasp that is in good working order. The back of the pin has a polished gold surface and bears the engraved inscription TF Bailey* and symbols for Epsilon and Pi. More than a century old, this vintage piece is sure to be treasured by a member of a fraternal organization. The 14k gold purity composition has been professionally tested.
*Thaddeus Francis Bailey, born 1/19/1883, was the manager of Concrete Construction Company in Ohio. He was a member of Alpha Nu and married Eva Lorentz, a Delta Gamma, on October 25, 1907. Mr. Bailey died in January 1969.
This badge weighs 2.5 grams. The piece measures 1/2" (12.4mm) long and 15/32" (12mm) wide.
We guarantee this piece to be 14k gold as tested. It has not been cleaned in order to maintain its original antique integrity. Please check out the enlarged pictures.
